With recent global events threatening both our physical and financial health, the UD Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship’s (CEEE) vision is perhaps even more important than ever: to see students graduate as informed and productive citizens, contributing to their own prosperity and to the well-being of the world. Despite the pandemic, the CEEE conducted 143 programs, professional development sessions and courses during the 2020-2021 academic year, reaching 2,269 teachers within both public and private schools. As a result, the CEEE’s initiatives reached over 216,000 students.
The Lifelong Lerner Webinar Series, hosted by the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, will provide faculty and alumni from the Lerner College and the CEEE an opportunity to discuss the importance of teaching personal finance and economics early and consistently throughout a person’s life. What content should we be teaching children and young adults to prepare them to make sound financial and economic decisions? What financial literacy programs and courses are available to high school students and what does the research tell us about their effectiveness? Why is it important for professionals to volunteer their time to help others navigate the complex financial world we live in? What are the key concepts people in the workforce should know and how should they prepare for their retirement? These and other questions will be addressed by the panelists during this engaging, informational, and free to the public webinar.
