Hi, my name is Jesse Alba and I am a senior finance major at the University of Delaware. When I think about what makes Delaware is such a unique university, there are a number of things that come to mind. But first and foremost is the opportunities that it provides for its students. >> Early on, I learned that finance is a major, that if you don't have a direction, don't have an inclination of what you would like to do with the major, you may not end up doing anything with it. >> And so it's important to understand what careers are out there, but what you would like to do with your major in the real world and the university gives its students incredible opportunities to do just that. >> So beyond the classroom, I had the opportunity to be involved with a number of organizations like Blue Hen Investment Club, which is a student run Investment Fund that manages about $2.5 million of the university's endowment. >> That has been a great experience teaching some of the more technical aspects of finance and applying what we're learning in the classroom in a real-world setting. >> I've been involved with a co-ed business fraternity, Alpha Ep Psi, that has given me a lot of direction, has connected me with other students in business school and beyond. >> And even things like writing for the school newspaper to hone in on some of those written skills that are valuable in the workplace. >> The university gives its students ample opportunities to find what interests them. >> And then there's the second half of that, actually, attaining an internship or a job. And I think what comes to mind for me about why Delaware such great place to be, when it comes to that, is the Alumni Network. >> University has an incredible career center. >> They are willing to connect you with the alumni, they can. >> And they give you many opportunities to connect with jobs or career fairs, coffee chats at an info table, and in our business school, there's a lot of opportunity to connect with employers. I had an internship my sophomore summer at SEI Investments, which is an asset management company. >> And I met an employee that works there while he was on campus who was able to help me through the interview process. I had a junior year summer internship at Citi Bank in New York City. I connected with an alumni who works there through LinkedIn, who was more than willing to help me through the interview process. >> And then after my internship, they offered me to return as a full-time employee, which I'll be starting in July. >> And so it just goes to show that if you, if you are willing to put any effort, the university and its alumni are there to help you every step of the way. >> And I think that's something that I have not heard from friends that go to other universities. And I just think it is very unique to the University of Delaware. And if I were starting over in my college search, those are things I would be prioritizing above anything else. And so I've been very, very pleased with my experience at the University of Delaware and hope that you'll join us next year as well.
