This session will provide an overview of the Library and Museums introductory program for First Year Seminar. Themed around While the Earth Sleeps We Travel: Stories, Poetry, and Art from Young Refugees Around the World by Ahmed M. Badr, the program offers a self-guided way for students to reflect on themes from the book as they interact with artwork, historical manuscripts, and films. Students also use library resources to research an issue related to the Common Reader and create a multimedia reflection. In addition to learning about the content of the program, KCTO participants will be able to explore ways to further integrate materials and student work from the program into their FYS course.
Presenter: Lauren Wallis, First Year Experience and Student Success Librarian
