Abstract: This seminar examines how fish populations vary across space and time, drawing on examples from historical and contemporary fisheries, independent surveys, and recreational catch-per-unit-effort data. It also explores how habitat complexity and landscape modification shape aquatic communities. Case studies from juvenile and adult research programs highlight the use of traditional net-based sampling and acoustic telemetry to study diadromous fishes that migrate between marine and freshwater habitats. Finally, the seminar discusses how nature-based living shoreline designs can enhance coastal land use compared to traditional shoreline armoring, along with recent developments at the University of Delaware Fisheries & Aquaculture Innovation Center.
