Hi, my name is Emily and I currently work as a social media analyst at C My Media Group, which is a pharmaceutical marketing agency that specializes in paid media. I graduated in 2019 with a marketing degree and really took an interest to social media marketing. When I interned with the media relations department at UDF athletics. As an athlete at UT myself, I had already fallen and engaged with many of the athletic social pages and really wanted to be part of the development and creation of the posts themselves. I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot about organic media, which is unpaid social that serves as the foundation for many paid campaigns, which is what I do now. So a typical day for me, it's a social media analyst, would definitely involve looking at a lot of numbers. I'm responsible for managing multiple social campaigns, primarily on Facebook on a daily basis, as well as constantly seeking new opportunities to engage with social from my client as a pharma agency, there's also that added layer of regulation, which means that adds our bill and Q8 with really sharp eyes to ensure that everything from the video itself to the copy of the ad is compliant. Going back to numbers, being able to look at and interpret campaign metrics is the foundation of my job. I'm responsible for telling a story to my client, which includes explaining how social is helping them to achieve their marketing goals. Someone in my position has multiple avenues to take moving forward. From choosing to stay in the technical position and analyzing data for the client to leading and managing teams, so less technical. At CMI, I'm working on preparing for my senior role, which is the next step before becoming a leader and managing a team myself. Some tips I have for first year, students. Explore all areas of your major and look for opportunities to get involved. The earlier the better, because you'll be able to figure out what you like and what you might want to explore further. No opportunity or experience is too small. So even small internship at you day while you're working or as a student is really, really helpful. I'm sure you'll hear this a lot, but networking is really important. Great way to meet new people and you'll never know where the next job opportunity will come from. I networked with many people before landing a connection at CMI. And I still like to keep in touch with the people I've met along the way. Don't stress and avoid comparing yourself to others. I know you guys have a couple of years before you start looking at applying for jobs, but you will find your way. And something I wish I'd known from freshman to even a senior at you, Dave, was that everyone has their own timing. It took me about five months to find the job that I was really happy in at CMI. And you'll find yours whether that sooner or later. So don't stress about that. Focus on the journey and the end goal. And most importantly, have fun it you day. I definitely miss being there as a great opportunity career wise, but also just overall in life. Enjoy it while you have it. Definitely miss it. And yeah, if anyone would like to be in touch. So reach out to Julia, she can give you my contact information. I'd love to connect on LinkedIn for anyone who really wants to learn more about what I do. But otherwise, good luck this year.
