Hi, my name is Brian Saltzman. I graduate the university, delaware in spring of 2019 as a marketing major and a minor in advertising. During my time, I participated in Greek life of the delta tau delta for attorney, where I hosted at attended on campus charitable events. In addition, I also had an internship this summer of my sophomore year, junior year. But my sophomore year I received the internship by staying connected to one of my professors and my friends, and finding out of that opportunity, I landed a opportunity at a creative agency just down the road and Wilmington, Delaware. And from that, I learned what it was like to be part of a business organization. Sending day-to-day emails, staying on track with timelines and falling projects were just the basic things that I learned from being in an organization. Through these experiences and my internships, I decide to pursue a career in digital marketing and advertising, specifically at a media agency, working as a media manager. And I have represented they had beverage companies as well as healthcare companies in media. And what my day to day looks like is figuring out what are the best plans. Figuring out who should get ads for our products and the best places to reach them, whether that be on your cell phone, your laptop, a billboard, a screen inside of a supermarket. There's so many different opportunities and new digital media is out there. So for anyone who's interested in pursuing a career like this, I would say stay organized, get comfortable with public speaking because you will have to represent yourself, an organization, or a client at some point, as well as find something you're passionate about and pursue it. The biggest tip I have for those who are undeclared, even those who are declared but unsure is to talk with your professors. They have so much knowledge, so many connections, and know so much about what's happening on campus where they can point you in a direction that you can try. I got internships. I was able to TA for one of my professors. And I was involved in executive Mentors Scholars where I was actually paired up with a business leader outside of the university. All of that came from just being a strong network and being part of learner School of Business.
